"We all know how crucial it is to have a wide range of effective techniques at our fingertips. But whether you fish competitively or not, on one thing we all agree: the fishing scene doesn't stand still... and that's a HEALTHY SIGN!"
I can remember the time when, if you wanted a really effective electronic bite indicator, you had to make your own.
A few years later, boilies were a new thing; so were Wagglers and the rebirth of Pole Fishing. With increasing numbers of anglers, the boom in new waters and a generally better organised sport, new methods are bound to crop up ever more frequently, swelling the armoury of fish-catching techniques.
Some are gimmicks or just plain 'off-the-wall' and fall deservedly by the wayside. Others go on proving their worth season after season, and we begin to wonder how we ever did without them.
Well, I remember reading a book about fishing way back in the early nineties although my fishing conquest started many years before this.
The book was called ‘COARSE FISHING - A Guide To Successful Angling’ *.
In it,a team comprising many of Britain's best fishermen at the time and indeed still today, had come together to help us do just that, pick up these essential fishing skills.
These top names showed you, in clear, straightforward language and with colour photographs and information-packed diagrams, how to master the genuine, tried-and-tested innovations of recent years (all are still very applicable today).
But what they also offered a complete guide to improving your fishing, whatever your present level of expertise. Throughout the book the emphasis was on the practical approach the contributors had evolved over many years - and it has certainly paid off for them and for me too.
Why I am saying
this is to just give a background as to where most, but not all, of this site’s
information came from in the first place, yes this book.
Although the origin of
the site’s content may stem back to the 1990s and beyond, all of it is in my opinion still
very valid and valuable to all of us fishermen today.
Take a look
around you will see just what I mean.
"You'll wonder how you ever managed without us!"
For instance, the section ' Techniques and Tackle', gives advice on choosing and using the right tackle in a wide variety of situations. The ' Baits and Lures' section weighs up the full range of proven baits, both natural and artificial, and hot tips on getting the best out of them. Our ' Know Your Fish' part of the site looks at the main coarse species in depth, since you can never know too much about the ways and the habitat of the fish you're after. A ' Specialist Approach' combines understanding of the major species with unbeatable advice on the best methods of catching them.
"So, whether you're
just starting out or you've already got some sound experience under your
belt, and whether your preference is for fishing in rivers, lakes or reservoirs the 'Fishing Stuff' website aimstells you all you need know to boost your
success rate and get even more enjoyment out of our marvellous sport (if that were
possible)."
